Released on September 13, 1985 for the Family Computer—commonly known as the Famicom—"Super Mario Bros." has continued to captivate children and adults across Japan and around the world. Following its debut, numerous entries in the series have been released, and in 2015, the title celebrates its 30th anniversary.

To commemorate this milestone, this release includes music from 17 titles spanning from "Super Mario Bros." (1985) to "Super Mario 3D World" (2013). In addition, the bonus tracks feature music from the then-latest entry, "Super Mario Maker," scheduled for release on September 10, 2015. Including titles appearing on CD for the first time, this is a must-buy item that allows listeners to trace the 30-year history of "Super Mario Bros." through the music of 18 titles.
