The top-down 2D platformer Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo™ sees its plucky protagonist navigating a dense and lively urban landscape with the aid of — what else? — his trusty yoyo. As Pippit masters new tricks, each one more electric than the last, new areas of the game’s massive map start to open up, unveiling juicy secrets along the way.
It’s a kinetic, lively approach to the Metroidvania sub-genre, one that demands a kinetic, lively soundtrack to match. Pipistrello maestros Leonardo Lima and Henrique Lorenzi delivered on that notion and what’s more, one of gaming’s great icons, the legendary Yoko Shimomura, contributed her timeless talents to the game’s score with the baroquely beautiful track “Pipistrello Manor.”
